01 / APPROACH

Japanese tattooing as a complete composition.

The goal is not simply to place an image on skin. Each large piece is considered as a whole — silhouette, movement, background, color and the way the design follows the body.

Andy has been tattooing in the greater Philadelphia area since 2011, with a focus on Japanese Traditional work alongside American Traditional tattooing.

About Andy

Traditional roots.
Contemporary life.

Andy Robinson has been tattooing since 2011 and specializes in Japanese Traditional and American Traditional work. His large-scale pieces draw heavily from 19th-century Japanese woodblock prints, natural subjects and the visual language of traditional tattooing.

He has worked internationally in Ireland, Tokyo, Switzerland and Belgium. His practice is grounded in extensive drawing and preparation, with in-person consultations for larger projects.

Send what you are looking to have tattooed, placement and size, and any references that show what you are drawn to.

02

Consult

For large-scale work, Andy generally prefers an in-person conversation about the idea, mood, composition and fit.

03

Build

Drawing, preparation and the tattoo itself happen over time, with the design developed to work as part of the body.
